What inspired you to create FLOURISH?
Not long ago, my hair went through a difficult season - over-bleaching, chemical treatments, and constant heat styling left it fragile and depleted. What was once thick and healthy became so compromised that I relied on extensions for more than a year to conceal the damage.
What’s your favorite thing about FLOURISH?
I love that you can simply enjoy a cup of tea while supporting stronger, fuller hair. We made sure to source our biotin from a premium supplier that conducts extensive quality testing and guarantees a pesticide-free, non-GMO, gluten-free, and certified vegan ingredient profile - clean, pure, and highly effective. What shampoo / conditioner are you using?
I typically wash my hair twice a week, a schedule that requires careful planning around workouts, but it has completely transformed the health of my hair. I once loved the feeling of washing it daily, but frequent washing can strip the hair of its natural oils and compromise its strength. For shampoo and conditioner, I rely on ORIBE. I’ve experimented with more natural formulas, but because my hair is bleached, I need products with high-performance silicones to keep it smooth and manageable. ORIBE uses advanced silicones like amodimethicone, which help control frizz and leave the hair silky and polished. If your hair hasn’t been chemically lightened, I recommend avoiding shampoos with sulfates and silicones altogether, Leonor Greyl is a beautiful option for this.
What products do you use for styling?
- Heat Protection: Apply Kérastase Nutritive Heat-Protecting Styling Cream to damp hair before using any hot tools to shield strands from damage.
- Styling Products: For volume and movement, I use Kérastase Mousse Bouffante or Rossano Ferretti Volumizing Mousse, followed by their Texturizing Spray while my hair is still damp.
- Finishing Oil: After styling, I like to smooth a few drops of Kérastase Elixir Oil through the ends to enhance shine and reduce frizz. Use sparingly, a little goes a long way to avoid creating a greasy look.
- Updos: I use the TruEdge Hair Stick by Tyche to keep flyaways neatly in place and create a sleek, polished finish.
What products do you use for hair health?
- I love a nourishing leave-in treatment such as raw coconut oil, rosehip oil, or deeply hydrating masks. A few favorites of mine include the Leonor Greyl Masque à l'Orchidée, the Gisou Honey Infused Ceramide Repair Mask, and the Kérastase Nutritive Ultra-Hydrating Mask. I also like to add Hair Power Drops by Rossano Ferretti to any mask for an additional boost of collagen and hyaluronic acid. For an extra boost of moisture, wrap your hair in a warm, steamed towel while your mask soaks in. The gentle heat helps open the hair cuticle, allowing for deeper penetration and maximum hydration.
- I found incorporating hair oils can make a remarkable difference. Warm a small amount between your palms, then gently massage it from the scalp to the ends. Leave it on for 30 minutes or even overnight for deeper nourishment, be sure to wash thoroughly before styling. For hydration and growth, I love Leonor Greyl Huile Secret de Beauté, or a simple cold-pressed oil such as rosemary, coconut, or castor oil.
Who does your color?
Only one person in the world does my color, Parvin Klein at Julien Farel Restore Salon in NYC.
Do you take any other supplement?
At the moment, I don’t take any dedicated hair-growth supplements. I prefer to nourish my body through whole foods - I truly believe food is medicine. That’s why I love my FLOURISH and SHINE teas. They offer a beautifully simple way to take in high-quality, hair-loving nutrients through something I already enjoy each day: a comforting cup of tea.
Any last tips to add?
- Protect your hair in the sauna by covering it with a towel to shield it from excessive heat and dryness.
- Use a boar bristle brush to evenly distribute natural oils from root to tip, enhancing shine and reducing frizz. I love the brand SHASH.
- Incorporate radio-frequency scalp stimulation to support circulation and encourage healthy hair growth.
- Guard your hair and scalp from UV damage with a dedicated hair SPF, I use COOLA SPF 30.
- Minimize hot tools and opt for gentler styling methods like a Dyson blowout whenever possible.
- Limit chemical treatments, as less frequent dyeing and processing helps preserve strength and elasticity.
- Choose silk hair ties and pillowcases to prevent breakage, reduce friction, and keep frizz at bay.
- Extend your hair washes with a good dry shampoo - I love Crown Affair for this.
- Be patient. Healthy hair takes time to grow and recover.
